Wadi Degla Teams up with World's Biggest Tennis Coaching Organization

With Egypt continuously breaking bounds in squash and recently in swimming, football as well as handball, Wadi Degla have chosen to turn their attention to tennis by partnering with Inspire2Coach (I2C). Inspire2Coach is the world's largest tennis organization that provides the state-of-the-art training necessary for young athletes to reach stardom at Wadi Degla's tennis academy.

Wadi Degla is considered one of the few clubs that have introduced the concept of sports academies to Egypt and have played a vital role in equipping athletes with the appropriate spaces and tools to nurture champions in a variety of sports. I2C led by Mark Tennant, a UK coach with over 25 years experience, will help implement coaching programmes for amateur players as well as classes for coaches to enrich their instructional methods. This program will solidify the tools required to train generations of tennis players to come. To ensure continual player development, I2C will manage Wadi Degla's tennis courts to maximize the facilities offered by the clubs to its fullest.

The recent news of Mohamed Safwat being the first Egyptian to qualify for the Australian Open in 42 years will hopefully inspire Egyptian athletes to pursue a traditionally under-served sport. Taking into consideration Wadi Degla's ultimate vision of providing 100 Egyptian seeded players by 2030, this ambitious goal, coupled with the services offered through this partnership, will be a game-changer for tennis in Egypt. This programme will not only work towards cultivating players but will also put Egypt well on its way to becoming a sports hub in the region. With the right training and equipment, it's only a matter of time before Egyptians dominate tennis the way conquered squash.
