New Factory Will Produce Phone Accessories in Port Said

A new factory in Port Said will manufacture locally-made mobile phone accessories. As part of a collaboration between the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) and Chinese developer TEDA, the plant will help supply global giant Transsion Holdings. It is considered the first factory for wearable mobile accessories in the Middle East and Africa.

Operating three daily production lines, the USD 2 million facility will create components for Transsion's popular Infinix, G-TiDE and itel brands sold widely across Africa. The factory will also produce goods for Oraimo and other Uni Group products.

Currently employing 65 Egyptian workers, the 1,350 square metre factory aims to expand to 150 staff as output increases. Infinix recently test-ran production of the first Bluetooth headsets engineered within Egypt at the new venue.

According to SCZONE, TEDA investments in the zone now total over USD 2 billion.
