Ministry of Environment Launches 'E-Tadweer' E-waste Campaign

With Egyptians generating 90,000 tonnes of e-waste a year, the Ministry of Environment has launched a Safe Disposal of Electronic Waste campaign through the new E-Tadweer app. The initiative hopes to reduce health risks, create job opportunities and give concrete realistic models for a green and circular economy.

The E-tadweer app allows users to dispose of e-waste at any of their partners’ outlets in exchange for voucher points.

The first phase of the campaign will collect small tech devices like laptops, computers, chargers, cameras, video games, PlayStations, mobile phones and small computer screens. Eventually, the second stage will see the collection process done from the privacy of users' homes to help them get rid of large household appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, stoves and TV screens.
