Trucks Banned From Suez Road During Rush Hours
Following a deadly incident involving a truck and a school bus, trucks are no longer allowed on Suez Road during rush hours.
It took a deadly accident between a school bus and a truck on Egypt's Suez Road recently that killed four people, one of whom was a six-year-old girl, for Egypt's Ministry of Interior to ban trucks from driving on Ismailia and Suez highways during peak traffic hours.
According to Ahram Online, trucks will not be allowed to use the highways from 6 AM to 9 AM and 1 PM to 4 PM from the Cairo entrance to Ring Road.
Earlier this year, traffic laws were a hot topic of conversation after a mother took to social media about her young daughter's death at the hands of a reckless truck driver on Ring Road. The tragedy sparked a response from Egyptian traffic app Bey2ollak, who then renamed the road to 'Daneiah Road' in solidarity with the young victim.
Around the same time, CAPMAS released their shocking traffic accident statistics for 2015, which indicated that Egypt suffered 14,548 accidents in 2015 – a one percent increase from 2014’s figures – which resulted in 6,203 deaths and 19,325 injuries.
