Legendary UK Sneaker Store JD Sports to Open in the UAE & Saudi Arabia

British high street staple and self-proclaimed 'Undisputed King of Trainers,' JD Sports, is set to expand its presence in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait through a partnership with GMG (Gulf Marketing Group).

Régis Schultz, CEO of JD Sports, expressed his excitement about the collaboration: “We are delighted to announce this historic franchise agreement with GMG, marking JD's first entry into such a partnership. Having witnessed firsthand the tremendous untapped potential for retailers in the Middle East throughout my career, I am confident that GMG, with their extensive retail expertise and local customer understanding, is the ideal partner for us in the region.”

GMG has played a vital role in introducing over 120 global brands from the health and wellness sector to the markets of the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. The company aims to open approximately 50 JD branches across the region by 2028. This expansion aligns with JD's broader plan to open 200 to 300 new stores annually worldwide over the next five years.

Mohammad A. Baker, Deputy Chairman and CEO of GMG, also shared his thoughts on the venture: “By acquiring the franchise rights for the GCC region for JD Sports, we are embarking on a new chapter in the sports retail landscape. Through our combined strengths and expertise, we aim to revolutionise the sports retail sector by offering a diverse range of high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and innovative shopping experiences.”

This move will provide customers in the MENA region with access to the latest sportswear, footwear, and athleisure drops from highly sought-after brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Under Armour, and more.
