Lebanese Artist Maria Taktouk Drops Dark-Pop Single ‘Always Go Back’

Following the release of her debut singles ‘Shadows’ and ‘Obsessed’, Lebanese pop artist Maria Taktouk drops the music video for her latest single, ‘Always Go Back’, building on her previous sound and incorporating more dark-pop elements with vulnerable lyricism.

The track features predominantly electronic production coupled with EDM and trap influences, along with Eastern percussion. Maria introduces herself through a passionate vocal performance and honest, raw lyrics that explore themes of belonging and feeling lost.

“Writing this song felt freeing. It reflects the feelings I have of missing my country and family while I build a new home and friendships in a different city,” Taktouk tells SceneNoise. “Lyrically, it’s all about longing for a sense of belonging. A reminder that whenever I feel lost or out of place, I’ll always have something calling me back. I realized I don't need to fit in everywhere. As long as I stay true to who I am, that's what matters.”

The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Will Beach. Set against a rural Lebanese landscape, Maria performs traditional Lebanese choreography while dressed in native Middle Eastern attire with a modern twist. The video centers around a traditional Lebanese cedar tree, the national emblem of Lebanon that prominently appears on the Lebanese flag, symbolizing her yearning for home.
