Third Space is the Furniture Gallery Honouring the Beauty and History of Vintage Furniture

Tucked away in Zamalek, Third Space is a gorgeous vintage furniture gallery hoping to bring an alternative perspective when it comes to home furnishing and decoration. The store – built with a passion for preserving decades of furniture trends – sells furniture, paintings and lighting  from the 1940s, with some pieces from the 1930s and 1950s as well. Stepping into the store and seeing all these pieces together, you get this sense of a complete aesthetic that allows you to envision the pieces as they once were.

“I believe modern furniture is soulless, but when you buy a vintage piece, the piece has a story,” Interior Designer and Third Space founder Ahmed Kady told #CairoScene. “Through our gallery, we’re giving these vintage pieces new life, and when a space hosts vintage pieces it gives it a certain warmth that’s lacking in modern furniture. Vintage furniture uses different materials and textures and in general, exhibits more opulence.

These nostalgic pieces are mainly curated from Upper Egypt, Alexandria and the Delta where Third Space’s teams are always on the lookout for furniture auctions and furniture sales, while keeping in contact with various furniture traders.

“Visiting our gallery is an experience and of itself,” Kady said. “It’s unique, and unlike any other furniture gallery you can find in Egypt. We also help open the eyes of customers to new ideas on how to furnish new colours, and how to mix different elements together.”

To check out Third Space’s pieces, you can find the store at 21 Hassan Assem, off Mohamed Mazhar, Zamalek. They also provide a consultancy service!
