Women's Rights Organization Launches Hotlines to Respond to Sexual Harassment Reports

Semi-governmental organization National Council for Women (NCW) is taking extraordinary measures ahead of Eid Al Adha this year to ensure the safety of women by launching hotlines to receive sexual harassment complaints and provide legal assistance to victims who wish to press charges, according to Ahram Online.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the organization explained that the council's lawyers will be joining police officers in responding to reports of sexual harassment incidents to offer legal assistance to the plaintiffs.

Holidays such as Eid Al Adha have in the past seen a surge in sexual harassment incidents, hence the exceptional measures.

A person convicted of sexual harassment faces at least six months in prison and/or a fine of up to EGP 5,000 EGP.

The NCW will be receiving sexual harassment reports on the following numbers: 01205575331, 01121997477, 01007525600.
