Umm Kalthoum's Hologram is Back Home to Perform in Cairo
For the first time in 45 years.
The fourth pyramid of Egypt is back, the Umm behind Umm Al Donia herself, and she’s set to emerge on the stage of the Cairo Opera House. The hologram concert that just wrapped up in Dubai is now coming to the icon’s country of origin, reviving the spirit and timeless art of Umm Kulthum.
Under the auspices of Inas Abdel Dayem, the Minister of Culture, the Opera House will hold the concert on March 6th. The Golden Age artist’s latest stage appearance is directed by Gihan Morsey, and accompanied by opera singers Mai Farouk and Reham Abdel Hakim.
The 55-minute 3D photorealistic modelling show uses special technology that uses a projector and screen to create a 2D render of the artist— except the projector is essentially massive. We’re excited to finally belt out Enta Omry somewhere other than in the shower. What are your thoughts on the concert? Let us know in the comments below.
