RamaDONE: Holy Month Cut Short

Ah Ramadan, that time of year when we all stop, eating, drinking and generally having fun - during daylight hours. The good news is that this year it is being cut short by one day thanks to the good lunar character.

Director of Egypt's National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, Hatem Ouwda, announced that the holy month will kick off on June 29. This year the fasting fun will last for just 29 days.

Ramadan comes roughly 10 days earlier every year. Daylight savings time will be suspended for the duration of the month.
