National Holidays Will Now be Pushed to the End of the Week - Forever
The government has decided that all national holidays will automatically be pushed to the end of the work week, starting with Tuesday's June 30th holiday, which will take place on Thursday, July 2nd.
Love them or hate them, those mid-week government holidays can be blindsiding. Like, awesome, we get one day off - and then we have to get our momentum back when we return to work immediately the very next day. If only it fell on a Thursday so we could plan out a nice, long weekend and go on a trip somewhere nice and cosy, like the living room or the balcony. If you happen to have had this extremely specific thought recently, then you're in luck. The Egyptian government has given the long weekend a green light, now and forever. All national holidays will automatically be pushed to the end of the work week, starting with Tuesday's June 30th holiday, which will now take place on Thursday, July 2nd.
The decision affects all sectors, private or public, except for when it affects scheduled examination times for schools and universities, as the decision was made at such short notice.
