The quaint Mohandessin bar has had some work done...

Melouk 2.0

There aren’t many watering holes in the Monhandessin area .Which is odd considering the huge amount of humans in that province and the inevitable alcoholism that comes from living in probably the most hectic part of Cairo. That being said, there is a quaint purple bar tucked behind the Shooting Club which you may of driven past. Its mysterious neon lights may have filled you wonder and intrigue as you push your way past the traffic and that stand the inexplicably sells flags for all the countries in the world…

It’s Melouk! You may have remembered some pretty sick underground Minimal Tech and Dubstep nights being put on there last year, but in general the slick little hotspot has remained low key, serving up unique cocktails and surprisingly good bites in a cosy yet modern atmosphere.

As if that wasn’t enough, Melouk has now had a revamp, presenting a new look and funkier vibe. Somehow they’ve managed to make the place more spacious while putting in a bigger, better-stocked bar. We love the kitsch, neon ‘Shooters’ sign, hanging seductively behind the staff who really do know how to mix up great shooters. It also made us chuckle since Melouk is right by the Shooting Club, but we’re lame like that.  They’ve even revamped their bathrooms, pretty much doubling them in size and bringing them up to date with sleek fixtures. Last, but definitely not least (it actually should have come first), the persistent people behind Melouk have installed a brand new state-of-the-art sound system, pumping out beats smoother than the service.
