Gold Mining Exploration Dig in Eastern Desert Extended to November

State-owned Shaateen Mineral Resources Company (SMRC) has extended its global gold mining exploration in Egypt’s Eastern Desert by an additional three months, setting a new deadline on November 9th.

This decision aims to encourage international companies to invest in Egypt’s mining sector, ensuring fair competition among all interested companies.

Earlier in April 2023, SMRC initiated the global dig to explore gold and precious minerals, including phosphate, sulfur, and potash, in five areas within the Eastern Desert. The exploration was originally scheduled to take place between July and September 2023.
