El Sisi Declares State of Emergency for 3 Months and What Needs to Happen Before Mosques Reopen

At 1 AM this morning, March 28th, President El Sisi declared a state of emergency for the coming three months due to the ongoing pandemic as well as released the preliminary steps that are needed before mosques can be reopened, which will be carried out by the Ministry of Awqaf.

These steps include manufacturing sterilization booths for use in mosques, allocating 300,000 square metres of carpet to refurnish floors, a comprehensive plan for disinfection and sterilization of mosques, and the modernization of the acoustic systems used in mosques.

Committees are now being created and assigned to this project, and they will report to the ministry on a weekly basis.
