Egyptians Have Joined Together to Deliver Meals to Corona Victims in Home Isolation

To ease the burden on those suffering from Coronavirus in home isolation, Egyptians have banded together to prepare meals and deliver them straight to their doors. The grassroots campaign went into action after it became apparent that restaurants aren't always able to offer home delivery to those who have been infected.

Over 7,000 Egyptians joined a Facebook group (which is called "Healthy meals to Corona victims who are in home isolation" in Arabic - it doesn't leave much to the imagination, but we can always appreciate some good old-fashioned unambiguity) to volunteer their kitchens or donate money and supplies to the cause. Several grocery shops and caterers have also offered to do deliveries and sell their products for just their production costs.

Currently, the initiative uses an online form to receive orders, which Coronavirus patients can fill out themselves or have someone fill on their behalf. In order to ensure everyone's safety through social distancing, the group has set a hard rule that deliveries should be left outside of patients’ doors.
