Aswan's Fares to Be Presented as Model of a Green Village at COP27

As part of Egypt’s efforts to highlight its environmental efforts, Fares - a village nestled in Kom Ombo, Aswan - will be presented as the model of a green village, showcasing its breadth of developments during the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El Sheikh this November.

The village is home to 31 projects costing EGP 650 million, with six that have been finalised and 25 still under construction, according to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. A social unit, an ambulance point, and a fully solar-powered electricity distribution panel are among the village’s projects on the brink of completion., on top of 48 residential units to house Fares’s families. The village also received its own Nile walkway, accentuating its unique location at the foot of the Nile.
