Five New Shelters to Protect Female Survivors of Violence in Egypt

The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced that five shelters will be established within the next year to protect women who have been targets of violence, bringing the total number of government-funded and operated centres to 14.

These shelters have been set up around the country to provide abused and at-risk women with protection, rehabilitation, and methods of economic empowerment.

In line with rising global discourse on violence against women and the ways through which we can combat it on individual, communal, and state levels, the Ministry of Social Solidarity has been producing large amounts of media to educate the population about the prevalence of violence against women, and how survivors can seek help to be protected from further danger.
