Addiction Awareness Campaign Sees 500% Surge in Hotline Calls

The Fund for the Control and Treatment of Addiction and Abuse - headed by Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund - has announced the continuation of their Addiction and Awareness Campaign.

This campaign - which carries the message “Drugs will drag you to the end…don’t tie yourself to it…you are stronger than drugs” - reached 26 million views on social media. Following this surge in viewership, the number of calls on its 16023 hotline increased to 12,000 - an increase of 500% since the launch of the campaign two weeks ago.

This hotline works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and all therapeutic services are provided to addiction patients free of charge and in complete confidentiality.

The campaign was launched within the framework of the implementation of the national plan to combat drug abuse, and the new phase of this campaign specifically aims to raise awareness of the seriousness of addiction and substance abuse. It aims to highlight the psychological, economic and social impacts drugs can have on people across all ages and social categories.
