69,000 Egyptians Reached Out to National Addiction Treatment Hotline

Since its launch in early 2023, around 69,000 Egyptians have used the National Addiction Treatment hotline.

The free hotline, 16023, offers advice, treatment, follow-up calls, rehabilitation, and community integration, and is linked to 28 treatment centres across 17 governorates, all of which are affiliated with the Ministry of Social Solidarity's National Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction. Two additional centres are opening soon in Qena and Giza.

About 96.24% of the people receiving treatment services were male. The share of people who received treatment services and were female rose to 3.76%. The highest number of callers came from the Cairo governorate, followed by the Giza governorate.
