First Three Heritage Hotels Unveiled in Jeddah Historic District

The Jeddah Historic District Program has announced the official opening of three heritage hotels following a comprehensive restoration project. Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Al Balad Development Company, a Public Investment Fund (PIF) entity, the initiative aimed to successfully preserve the unique architectural features of these hotels in alignment with international standards and UNESCO guidelines.

Managed and operated by Al Balad Development Company, these hotels are part of a broader package that includes the restoration of 34 heritage buildings. The project’s overall goal is to safeguard the cultural heritage of the area, while also promoting contemporary hospitality in line with global standards.

Each of the three heritage hotels – Beit Jokhdar, Beit Al-Rayes, and Beit Kedwanin – in the Jeddah Historic District, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014, offers a unique experience, showcasing the area’s rich history and presenting distinct architectural designs that embody Jeddah’s cultural diversity.

Beit Jokhdar stands out for its ornate wooden balconies, some of the region's largest, providing a captivating glimpse into historical craftsmanship. In contrast, Beit Al-Rayes distinguishes itself through its interior design, featuring rooms overlooking a charming courtyard surrounded by columns topped with stone arches. Finally, Beit Kedwan sets itself apart with its prime location near Naseef Square in the Al-Alawi Market.

Together, these hotels contribute to an immersive exploration of the cultural and architectural heritage of the Jeddah Historic District, on course to becoming a leading travel destination across the globe.
