Air Taxis Will Soon Fly Across the Sky Above NEOM

Volocopter, the Saudi-backed pioneer of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), has begun manufacturing more than 50 air taxis this April in its production facility, VoloCity in Bruschal, Germany. And yes they’re exactly what they sound like - futuristic mini-helicopters that will whisk you above the skyline so you’ll never get stuck in traffic again.

The EASA-certified air taxis are set for a commercial launch in 2024 and will be deployed in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM, along with many other cities across the world such as Rome, Paris, and Singapore. Additionally, the German company has opened a hangar to host the final assembly line of the electric air taxis with an airfield to conduct development flight tests and quality checks.

This is the final step in Volocopter’s production setup which has been expanding over the past 18 months in Bruchsal.

These electrically-powered air taxis are set to transform urban transportation in efforts to make the world a more sustainable place.
