121 Boeing-787s Will Serve Saudi Arabian Airlines

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced two new agreements with Boeing for the purchase of up to 121 Boeing-787s, known as Dreamliners. The deal is expected to be used in part by the kingdom's newly announced second national airline, Riyadh Air.

The combined agreements are valued at nearly USD 37 billion, making it the fifth-largest commercial order by value in Boeing's history, according to a statement released by the Saudi Embassy in Washington. This deal comes just two days after the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia announced the launch of its new national carrier, Riyadh Air, which is set to serve as a hub between Africa, Europe and Asia, and connect to over 100 global destinations by 2030.

The airline's ultimate goal is to improve travellers' connections to Saudi Arabia's cultural and natural attractions, create over 200,000 jobs, and add USD 20 billion to non-oil gross domestic product over the years.
