Top Three Destinations Opening Up To Egyptian Travellers This Fall

When travel plans went on pause over 18 months ago, very few of us could have predicted we’d still be here today, poring over government-issued corona restrictions for that vacation we still haven’t managed to go on.

With vaccination programmes picking up speed worldwide, better days spent far away are finally on the horizon - Alhamdulillah! Travel destinations all over are opening up their beaches, hotels and national parks to tourists everywhere. As of next month, various corners of the world will welcome Egyptian passport holders with much simpler quarantine regulations, depending on your vaccination status. Here are our top three fall destinations becoming that little bit easier to vacay in as we leave summer in Sahel behind.

Mauritius

PCR in hand (taken no earlier than 72 hours before departure), fully vaccinated visitors from Egypt will be able to enter the island nation of Mauritius without the need to quarantine come 1 October. As simple as that, the removal of all restrictions for fully vaxxed tourists means you can head straight to this island’s gorgeous whitesand beaches as soon as you pass through border control.

Bangkok and Beyond
Following Thailand’s successful trial of quarantine-free stays for vaccinated tourists flying into some of the country’s most picture-perfect islands, capital city Bangkok will soon be added to the list of Thai holiday destinations open for quarantine-free vacaying. On 15 October, vaccinated travellers will finally be permitted to explore the world’s most visited city, including Bangkok’s beautiful floating flower markets, golden Buddha temples and world-famous nightlife. With the country’s 7+7 extension plan also coming into place next month, tourists can opt to choose from another eight provinces to explore after seven days in Bangkok as part of the country’s pilot reopening programme.

Following a stay in Thailand’s rich and cultured urban jungle, travellers can head to the real thing with destinations such as Chiang Mai, Phuket and Phang Nga included on the list of approved travel destinations. Other provinces added include Pattaya, Hua Hin, Cha-am and the islands of Krabi and Koh Samui. Travellers must choose their hotels from an extensive list of government-certified (SHA+) accommodation and should be wary that the country’s reopening is subject to delay should Thailand fall behind on its vaccination programme.

United Kingdom

After more than three long months of sitting on the UK’s red list, on 22 September Egypt will finally be moved to amber on the country’s traffic light system for incoming international travellers. Passengers arriving from Egypt will no longer be required to fork out £1,750 (37,500LE) for the miserable ten-day experience of being locked in a state-approved hotel room. Starting Wednesday, all those flying into British airports from Egypt can choose where to quarantine, meaning a lockdown in London’s most luxurious hotel is now on the cards, if that’s your thing of course. Unfortunately for those vaccinated in Egypt, the UK isn’t currently accepting Egyptian-issued vaccines as proof of inoculation, meaning all passengers from Egypt will be required to book PCR tests on the second and eighth days of their quarantine through the UK government website, as well as before they depart Cairo (72 hours before). Even when the nation’s traffic light system gets scrapped on October 4th, the above rules will remain in place for those vaccinated in and travelling from Egypt.
