UK-based travel operators are offering customers holiday packages in Egypt for later this year, despite Downing Street's ban on flights to Sharm El-Sheikh.

Sharm El-Sheikh Holiday Packages Sold in the UK Despite Travel Ban

Holiday packages for the autumn season of 2017 are being offered by UK-based travel operator Thomas Cook and Thomson, despite a UK flight ban to Sharm El Sheikh.

Thomas Cook and Thomson sells the packages, ignoring the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s warning against travelling to the holiday destination, even though the trips might not go ahead if the ban remains in place, the Sun reports. According to the publication, some booking agencies have barely even been mentioning the warning to perspective tourists.

The UK’s travel ban was enforced following the terrorist attack which downed a commercial Russian airliner over the peninsula in 2014 and an attempted attack on a British airline the following month.

The news comes as several international media reports predicted the recovery of Egypt's tourism sector this year, after a major downfall over the past two years that saw a plummet in tourism revenues; the main source of foreign currency in Egypt
