Ras Sudr to Get International Airport

Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Sherif Fathy, announced on Friday that Egypt will be inaugurating six new airports by the beginning of 2018 while also adding three new travel routes to Africa to strengthen Egypt's position as a regional travel hub, Al Mal reports.

Furthermore, Minister Fathy said the government is putting the plans for constructing an international airport in Ras Sudr as a top priority this upcoming year. A technical study on the location and specifications of the airport is being conducted by Ehaf Consulting Engineers, after which the government will study offers from 16 construction companies - which will include Misr Italia, Orascom Construction, and Hassan Allam Holding - before granting the project to the company with the best offer.

The exact date for the inauguration of the airport is yet to be announced.
