New Fayoum Nature Culture House Enriches Visitors with the History of the Region

To help document and celebrate the rich history of its protectorate, Fayoum’s Zowara ecolodge has just opened its first nature and culture museum in the heart of Wadi Al Rayan. The Fayoum Nature Culture House is all about preserving the history of the area, and the culture of Fayoum's local people. If you’ve ever wanted to go sky gazing in the desert, and relish in the beauty of nature, this museum will enrich your experience by teaching you everything you need to know about your newly-found haven.

With research provided by Mansoura University, the house is home to a variety of artefacts, bones and fossils, showing off the breadth of Fayoum's wildlife and archeological heritage.

The project was funded by CIB, and implemented through the UNDP Egypt project and the Egyptian Italian Environmental Cooperation Project (EIECP III). This marks the first time UNDP Egypt has collaborated with the private sector to help out with an environmental project.

The museum is now open for visitors. You can visit Zowara’s Facebook page to learn more.
