New COVID-19 Regulations for Travellers Arriving in Egypt

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has updated their travel requirements, in consideration of the recent spike in COVID-19 rates.

All travellers flying into Egypt will be accepted as long as they tested negative for the following approved tests: PCR, Antigen Rapid Test, and ID NOW. These tests must be performed within 72 hours of arrival.

Travellers will also be allowed to enter Egypt as long as they have a vaccine certificate with a QR code. These vaccines must be approved by the Egyptian Drug Authority and/or the World Health Organisation, namely: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, Sinovac and Sinopharm. At least 14 days must have passed since a single-dose vaccine was administered, or the second dose of a two-dose vaccine. Children under 12 are exempt from these requirements.

If a traveller is not able to provide a vaccine certificate or a negative COVID-19 test, they must take an Antigen Rapid Test upon arrival at the airport. If the test comes back positive, the traveller must also take an ID NOW test. If the result of the ID NOW test is also positive, the traveller may be able to enter as long as they quarantine themselves for five days before being tested again. If the result is still positive, they will quarantine for another five days. Afterwards, the quarantine will end without the need for another test.
