Luxor's Hot Air Balloon Trips Resume After Six Month Hiatus

When you hear about Luxor, you think of ancient temples and lush farmland. But when you've BEEN in Luxor, it's all about those hot air balloon rides. Soaring over the Nile as the sun rises beneath you, letting yourself get carried by a vibrant, colourful hot air balloon, the whole experience is basically a dream come true for tourists - but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, those dreams have been grounded for the past six months. However, in October 2020, hot air balloon rides in Luxor are returning to business. Balloon operators in Luxor received a notice that they can resume trips as long as they abide by some strict conditions, such as disinfection, social distance and the implementation of a 50% capacity rule.

The hot air balloon stations have received some upgrades recently, too, such as more up-to-date surveillance cameras and a GPS tracking system to ensure that the balloons stay on the right track and guarantee their safety.

It seems that there's nothing slowing down the process of reopening the country after the Coronavius lockdown ended, particularly with the resumption of international flights back in July 1st. With Egypt requiring travellers to take PCR tests before flying into the country, and hundreds of thousands of tourists having so far arrived in the past few months, the return of the hot air balloon air looks like an inevitability in hindsight.
