London Resumes Direct Flights to Luxor After Two-Year Hiatus

London and Luxor are resuming direct flights, after travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic put them on hold in early 2020. Luxor recently received its first inbound EgyptAir flight from London’s Heathrow Airport. The two cities will continue to operate a weekly flight, which will carry 140 passengers.

During the inauguration of the World Travel Market 2021 London earlier this week, Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that they’re looking to boost aviation flow from the UK to Egypt, particularly towards Egypt’s coastal cities.

With the grand reopening of Luxor’s Rams Road - an avenue of sphinxes that connects the recently restored Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple - on November 4th, the launch of Luxor’s medical tourism programmes, and the resumption of domestic flights between Luxor and the resort town of Sharm El Sheikh, Luxor is expected to receive a surge in tourism during the winter.
