Hotels to Operate at Full Capacity For First Time Since Pandemic Began

Egypt’s hotels will now be allowed to operate at full capacity, after previously imposing a cap of 70% to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It is the first time that hotels will be able to run at full capacity since March 2020, when COVID-19 restrictions caused them to operate at 25%, then 50% in June, and 70% in July.

Hotels must continue to adhere to strict precautionary measures, and must earn a safety certificate in order to operate at all.

According to a report from the Egyptian Association for Tourism and Archaeological Development, Egypt’s tourism industry is on the road to recovery, particularly at conventionally popular spots such as Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El-Sheikh, Luxor and Aswan. Around 3.5 million tourists visited Egypt during the first six months of 2021, which is the same number of people who visited Egypt during the entirety of 2020.
