Family-Run Bkerzay is an Immersive Retreat in the Lebanese Countryside

Nestled within Lebanon's gorgeously green Chouf Mountains, Bkerzay is an eco-retreat that lives off the countryside, harkening back to a simpler time. Less than an hour's drive from Beirut, you'll find yourself whisked away from  Lebanon's bustling capital to a thick forest of pine trees and olive groves.

With the way it's been laid out, Bkerzay looks more or less like a village, with boundaries defined by the growth of the natural environment that surrounds and freely encroaches upon it. And during your stay, you will certainly feel like you've always been part of the village after you’re drawn in by its laid back sense of hospitality.

Built in the traditional Lebanese style, the retreat is an inviting place to stand around and stare out over the mountainous forests before you. And while long walks upon the hillsides are understandably tempting, Bkerzay offers a range of relaxing activities for those looking to luxuriate within the bounds of the retreat, whether it's a dip in the pool, a soak in the hammam, or a go at the potter's wheel.

There's no talking about Bkerzay without discussing its famed restaurant. With menus by esteemed Beirut-based chef Hussein Hadid, Bkerzay's restaurant boasts a 'zero-waste' philosophy, growing its own olives, thyme and honey while using its own water purification system to deliver authentic Lebanese dishes.

Prices start at USD 120 per night with their Chambrette stays, which consist of a basic room with one bedroom and one bathroom, and is inclusive of breakfast and WiFi services.
