Electronic Ticketing Systems Arrive at Aswan's Archaeological Sites

As Egypt jets towards complete digital transformation, it’s giving its tourism sector an electronic power-up, equipping 32 of its major archaeological sites and museum with a state-of-the-art e-ticketing system. This new reservation system has now started operating in Aswan, covering Abu Simbel, Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Nubian Museum.

These sites are now counted among 14 sites that have experienced a surge in online booking, alongside the Giza Plateau, the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the temples of Hatshepsut, Luxor and Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, and the Cairo Citadel.

Through this e-booking system, visitors will be able to pay for, reserve, and receive digital tickets with a QR code at a smart entrance gate. This not only streamlines the whole booking process, but it also prevents overcrowding while tracking the number of visitors to the sites.

Powered by E-Finance and eAswaaq, the system was established exclusively for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Ticketing employees will undergo training to familiarise them with the new technology.
