Egypt’s Hottest New Hotel Openings for 2022

Egypt seems to be experiencing something of a moment in the sun these days with a slew of industries attracting world-class brands and talents eager to be part of the action and burgeoning economic excitement. Naturally tourism is taking center-stage and over the course of 2022 Cairo, the North Coast and the Red Sea are set to experience an influx of global hotel openings unlike anything in recent memory.  We’ve rounded up just a few of the freshest to look out for.

VIDA MARASSI MARINA

The Vida Hotels & Resorts are amongst the sexiest in the Emirates and now the fresh-faced Dubai-famed brand is sashaying onto Egypt’s north Coast with a four star boutique property overlooking the much buzzed about new Marassi Marina. The sparkly seaside property – with its 93 rooms and 122 hotel apartments-  is even set to feature its own yacht club!

Tonino Lamborghini Hotel Sharm El Sheikh

The lavish lifestyle and emerging luxury hospitality brand (yes, that of car fame) is revving into Sharm on a mission to bring “the luxury and timeless glamour of magnificent Italian product design” to the shores of the Red Sea. Other than a little peek offered by one of the brand’s design collaborators in Egypt – famed designer Mohamed Fares – no other details are yet to be revealed, but as always stay tuned to #SceneTraveller!

CHEDI HOTEL EL GOUNA

Chedi Hotels & Residence is looking towards El Gouna for the opening of their next five-star property, bringing the scale and splendour of the Chedi Andermatt in the Swiss Alps and the Chedi Lustica Bay Hotel on the coasts of Montenegro to this idyllic Egyptian resort town by the Red Sea. The hotel will be built on the foundation of an existing beachfront property, which once housed the Bellevue Hotel. There, one can already see hints of what we can expect: lines of palm trees, gargantuan pools, and stretches of sand kissing the edges of the Red Sea.

CAMPBELL GRAY HOTELS' NEW PROPERTY AT KINGS POLO CLUB

Lebanon lovers will be familiar with the stunning Le Gray property in the heart of Beirut, one of the hottest destinations in the city. Now Campbell Gray - the hoteliers behind Le Gray and a slew of other intimate picture-perfect properties around the world - are bringing their exquisite flair to Cairo with the opening of a beautiful boutique hotel amidst the landscaped gardens and fields of the Kings Polo Club on the Green Belt Road in Giza. Aside from the usual luxuries such as spacious bedrooms and an all-day dining restaurant, the yet-unnamed hotel will feature a library lounge containing the largest equestrian book collection in the MENA region.

SWISS-BELHOTEL MARSEILIA ALEXANDRIA

Set to face the Mediterranean Sea, Swiss-Belhotel International is slated to open its second Egyptian property located right on the stunning Alexandria Beach. The property will feature 300 rooms, split between 150 cosy guestrooms and 150 private residences, and is designed to appeal to both leisure and business travellers alike with ample dining, experiential and business facilities on site.

TIME Marina Hotel Conference Centre Egypt El Alamein

Egypt is doing a roaring trade in conferences these days. Set to join the fleet of hospitality brands positioning themselves to host the influx of business travellers is the four-star 130-room TIME Marina Hotel & Conference Centre. Situated just ten minutes from New Al Alamein City on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, the hotel is set to accommodate more than 350 delegates theatre style and will also feature a rooftop lounge, one restaurant, coffee shop, gym and pool.

SECON Nile Towers, Hilton

With stunning views of the Nile, and the Giza Pyramids, SECON Nile Towers straddles a 10,000 sqm land plot in Maadi, the leafy suburban district south of Cairo. The second of the two towers is set to feature a five-star Hilton hotel with  218 rooms and 38 suites.

RADISSON HOTEL & RESORT AIN AL SOKHNA

Despite its proximity to Cairo (less than a two-hour drive), and its stunning Red Sea vistas, Ain Al Sokhna has till now been overlooked by global hospitality brands. 2022 is set to see a shift with the Radisson leading the way with the opening of a 173 room hotel.

FOUR SEASONS RESORT SHARM EL SHEIKH EXPANSION

Not technically a new hotel but worth mentioning because of the sprawling new expansion that will see the award-winning resort’s size grow from 54 acres to 110 acres of whimsy and wonder nestled between the resplendence of Sinai’s mountains and the shimmering coral-infused waters of the Red Sea. 115 new rooms will take the count to a total of 169 rooms and 146 remarkable suites and chalets, with beautiful views of the Red Sea and mountain dunes. Two new outdoor pools - each prettier than the last – will bring the resort’s total to five oases of shimmering bliss interconnected by whimsical walkways and waterfalls amidst more than 3,000 Royal Palm trees. The ‘expansion’ also offers a succulent smorgasbord of new dining experiences. 12 to be exact, including Asian, Italian, Lebanese, Mediterranean as well as a Latin-American poolside restaurant and a wellness-inspired beach bar. And with Sharm fast becoming a go-to destination for global conferences, the resort has primed itself to welcome an influx of international movers with a 2000-person world-class convention centre that includes indoor and outdoor facilities designed to cater to the most demanding of power players.
