Egyptian Brand By Souma Chain-links Jewellery Into Wearable Art

By Souma is a small jewellery label based in Cairo specialising in one thing: chains. The pieces have a distinctly youthful feel, and an industrial vibe of the label’s pieces helps them diverge from conventional jewellery categories. Founder Souma Endisha fashions full body chains and wearable pieces that experiment with what jewellery can be, and the ways jewellery can interact with the rest of an outfit.

“I’ve always found elevating simple outfits fascinating,” Endisha tells SceneStyled. “I never felt like any outfit was basic as long as I added a little piece of jewellery that expresses my style without having to be too revealing.”

Whether it be a full-torso piece to add some edge to a backless dress, or a chain bralette to amp up the sauce on even your most pedestrian look, Souma’s creative chain pieces are a beautiful way to elevate wardrobe staples into something a little riskier.

“I want to bring out a feisty side of people,” the young designer and model explained, “a side that they may not have known they had in them. Ironically, I want people to feel free by chaining themselves up in my brand.”

With regard to the future of the budding jewellery label, Endisha tells SceneStyled that what we’ve seen so far is only the beginning: “I have so much up my sleeve that I don’t even know where to start. I can see the brand being the hub of all things chains.”The brand is fond of a stunningly-shot campaign and the creative playfulness at the heart of the label is translated in every shot. Editorial and visually arresting, the campaigns ooze grungy twilight party-girl chic.

Souma hinted at wanting to explore other avenues of expression in the brand’s future, too. “I plan to do exhibitions and pop-up events combining all the things I love and feel we’re missing,” she revealed, discussing hopes of exploring unique design, live music, art displays, and more at future events. “I want to create memorable experiences that remind you of the beauty of the simplest things.”
