American Designer Rick Owens Shows Luxor-Inspired Collection in Paris

Rick Owens - the avant garde designer behind world-class collaborations with Dr. Martens, Moncler and Converse - pays tribute to Luxor’s architecture in his newest FW '23 collection. What once served as a winter retreat for the famed designer swiftly morphed into a sinuous source of inspiration. The collection came to fruition as a culmination of miniature architectural shapes with a hint of seventies pseudo-mysticism. The designs feature a plethora of sharp shoulders, high and tight waists that flare at the ankle, reminiscent of the Victorian era. Honing in on Luxor’s elevated steps and pharaonic temple architecture, the heeled platforms act as the collection’s focal point. The Strobe pull-on platform boots were presented in a diverse array of colorways and materials, with some taking on an avant-garde animalistic form. The signature design elements of the Strobe boots include a striking 4-inch transparent heel, a thick front platform that accentuates the overall aesthetic, and a grilled bevel toe that adds a unique touch of textural interest.
