Iraq-Canadian Rapper Narcy Releases New EP ‘Meme Against the World’

Iraqi-Canadian artist, Narcy, has linked up with producer Thanks Joey to release his latest EP ‘Meme Against the World’, part of their collaborative project The Internet is Deep Fake. The four-track project is a commentary on how the internet has transformed the way we consume media and culture.

Real name Yassin Alsalman, Narcy has made a name for himself for his honest lyrics, with the four-track project coming as his commentary on embracing hardship, the ramifications of rampant technology use and the state of our end-stage hyper-capitalist society.

Featuring Dohl loops and solid bars, the EP delivers a heavy, old school sound with a high intensity flow complemented by Thanks Joey’s hip-hop production. The EP is packed with succinct, powerful bars depicting a corrupt, unjust society with distinct Middle East-influenced sounds and vocal samples for flavour.

The EP visualiser is a mashup of all four tracks from the EP, mingling hip-hop and jazz hop with a bizarre, comedic Jeff Bezos hostage situation unraveling in the background. It starts with a swanky, jazz affair then acoustic percussions kick in, fusing together a hard-hitting mix of jazz hop and comedy rap. A breakdown follows with a complete transformation to the beat.
