Frequency - Electronic Releases of The Month | July - Aug

Frequency is SceneNoise’s monthly playlist of electronic music from the MENA region, bringing you everything from minimal house grooves to hard techno bangers.

For our first edition of the playlist, we bring you fresh releases released between July and August 2023, like ‘Kalam Aflam’ by Egyptian producers Riff and El Waili, Lebanese artist Etyen’s expansive release ‘Schon’, and seasoned Egyptian producer Assyouti’s ‘Sodoof Antithese’.

Egyptian artist and electronic music producer Ash also released a number of singles this month, with the hypnotic ‘Dreams’ finding its way into our selection. Meanwhile, Zouj X Sahareya, the duo consisting of French/Moroccan/American producer Zouj and Slovenian rapper-dancer Sahareya are also featured on the playlist with their track ‘Bizzy’ from their EP 'ONLY RISKS’, which blurs the lines between glitchy hyperpop and laid-back rap.

We also feature two tracks off of MDLBEAST’s various artist album ‘Electrordon’: Nick Dagher’s ‘Ya Leil’ and Arwa Ismail’s ‘Mawwal’, which pay tribute to Jordanian culture by sampling recordings of folkloric music collected from throughout the kingdom.
