13 Guinness World Records Egypt Holds

Seeing as an Egyptian calligrapher is attempting a Guinness World Record for this handwritten 700 metre Quran, we decided to check out what other Guinness records Egypt holds. Although we didn't find a record for longest shebsheb throw, which we're sure Egyptian mothers can easily pull off, here are 13 Guinness World Records that we do hold.

Ahmed Mohamed Soliman Ibrahim broke 10 plastic clothes hangers in 4.60 seconds in October 2013. Who knew there was a record for that!?

The Nile Valley and the Delta form the most expansive oasis on earth, and we have them to thank for not currently living in the middle of a vast desert.

Music legend Amr Diab was recognised by Guinness World Records for winning the World Music Awards for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist in 1996, 2001, 2007, and 2013.

Largest Food Court

Of course we would have the largest food court in the world. Oasis restaurants and entertainment covers a total area of 41,000 m² and includes 25 restaurants and cafes, a kids' zone, and a car park with a capacity of up to 1,000 vehicles.

Largest Slice of Cheese (Yes!)

Still on food, understandably. Egypt holds the record for the largest cheese slice in the world. The 135.5 kilogram slice was created by Halayeb Katilo Co. and was crowned by Guinness in 2012.
