We Just Discovered Midnight Movie Quizzes

In every Egyptian brain, there lies a small cache of movie lines, a store of afashat aflam, reserved especially for the appropriate time to show it off how funny and cultured you are. That's just science. Made especially for that crevice in our culture, Midnight Movie Quizzes is the Instagram page that tests your movie knowledge just for the heck of it.

“I am addicted to movies, theatre and TV shows, and this game was already part of my daily routine with my sister, so it’s easy to think of questions," founder of Midnight Movie Quizzes, Jumana Negm, tells #CairoScene. "I cut the scenes, use some apps to design the videos, and dig for its behind the scenes.”

Born out of the boredom that came with the lockdown, Negm started posting the quizzes on her personal account. Before long, the venture took on a life of its own.

“At first, I thought of it as a way of entertainment while quarantining but now I think it really enriches audience with learning about these movies and how important they are,” Negm says.

You could test your knowledge on classics of Egyptian cinema like Tito, Africano, or El Eyal Kebret. Every night, at the very stroke of midnight, a new movie is featured on the page, and you get the chance to advance from five questions in each level of difficulty (easy, medium and hard). Should you get all the answers correct in a level, you advance to the next. Once you strike out the first time, it’s game over. Are you up for the challenge?
