Sharm El Sheikh is Getting 300 Natural Gas & Electric Buses

As part of Sharm El Sheikh's massive green overhaul, the coastal city is getting 300 natural gas powered buses and electric buses to help transport delegations taking part in the COP27 United Nations Climate Change Conference happening later this November.

Around 30,000 participants and 120 heads of state are set to arrive in Sharm El Sheikh for COP27, with member states of the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Climate Agreement coming together to discuss and negotiate the global issues surrounding climate change.

Among the other preparations for COP27 is the implementation of a series of measures to bring Sharm El Sheikh’s hospitality industry to global environmental standards. This will include Sharm’ El Sheikh’s hotels, restaurants, touristic facilities, diving centres and eco-hostels, all of which will have six months to apply these changes.

The Ministry of Environment is coming out with its first training programme to teach college students on how to handle climate change, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is making plans for Egypt's first youth forum for climate change, to run in parallel with COP27.
