Naming Trees After Students That Planted Them Might Become a Thing

What would it take to get our schoolkids to start growing their own trees? It's a question that the Ministry of Education has pondered after they've issued an official instruction to all schools to expand their green spaces. By the start of the 2021/2022 school year, every campus in Egypt is expected to plant as many trees as possible and take care of them for as long as they stand. So how to get the kids on board? What if the trees were named after whoever planted them?

Following similar moves like the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation's 'Nile Tree' initiative with the Youth Love Egypt Foundation, where they've been planting 500,000 royal poinciana trees along the banks of Egypt's canals, the Ministry of Environment's 'Live Green' effort to plant 1,000 trees in Cairo's landfills, and the Ministry of Scientific Research's plant nurseries that can produce 300,000 mangrove seedlings per year for the Red Sea coast, the Ministry of Education hopes that their instructions will lead young Egyptians to form a personal attachment to their own trees, and get them invested in a greener future for Egypt.
