Help a Puppy Find Its Forever Home with Street Paws Egypt

If there's any time of year when we should all be at home, it's Christmas time. Whether you celebrate it on December 25th or on January 7th, everyone deserves a home to stay safe and warm in - and call us biased, but as animal lovers, we feel that extends to Egypt's baladi dogs, who often spend winters roaming the streets. Street Paws Egypt shares our inclinations, which is why they're dedicated to rescuing, cleaning, and training baladi puppies to help them find their forever homes before the holidays roll by.

Street Paws Egypt is a boutique, personal service that looks to pair Baladi dogs and puppies with loving owners, whether they're in Egypt or abroad. As a non-profit pet adoption initiative, they're dedicated to educating the public about everything the baladi dog has to offer.

"This initiative was started after rescuing and adopting a Baladi puppy from the street who had be poisoned," Gabriela Asquith, founder of Street Paws Egypt, tells CairoScene. "We’ve honestly never looked back. Baladis are astoundingly clever, loyal, protective and the most interesting dogs we know."

Since we last spoke with Asquith, we found out that they've managed to find homes for a good number of their pups. But as Christmas approaches, she hopes that two puppies in particular - Feluka and Otto - will be able to find a new family by then. Otto is a male 2.5 month old puppy who was rescued from the street, shivering from the cold after a terrible accident, while Feluka is a 2 month old female who was dug out of a pile of rubble, cuddling peacefully on the way back to safety. Now both puppies are healthy and well, and more than ready to live their best lives with whomever wishes to share it with them.

If you have space in your heart and home for Otto or Feluka, no matter where you are in the world, you can look up @StreetPawsEgypt on Instagram, where they regularly update their page with the Baladis they have up for adoption.
