Get Your Food Fetish On

In Egypt, our diet is terrible. Whether it's scoffing shawerma or wolfing down mountains of delivery food, we suck in the diet stakes. Another thing we suck at is sustainability. However help is at hand, thanks to the Food to Fork movement is hoping to change all of that by holding a big ole' conference promoting sustainable business practices in the food and restaurant industry. Basically all of Cairo's chefs, restaurateurs, food businesses and foodies are heading to the the Semiramis Intercontinental for an all-day food fest in an attempt to clean up Egypt's food and beverage processes and the farm-to-table ecosystem.

The event will take place on 12th May at the Semiramis' brilliant Pavilion; the sleek, chic and unbelievebly productive space that has hosted many an important conference, meeting and creative session.

Guests on the day will include top South African food expert Justin Smith, who will speak on the importance of building a sustainable food scene in Egypt. The day-long shindig is set to showcase the latest in sourcing options from organic to seasonal and local to FairTrade and feature a full day of presentations, workshop sessions and a bloody sustainable food marketplace. In short, you'd be absolutely bonkers to miss out.
