Football Fails Forever

So Qatar are putting up a statue of Zinedine Zidane's infamous 2006 World Cup head butt against Marco Materazzi in Doha. None of this makes any sense. Zidane is French/Algerian. Materazzi is Italian and, even though Qatar is hosting the World Cup in 2022, the head butt is not exactly a defining moment of footballing history to be celebrated.

In other news, Egypt's government have decided to put up a statue of Eric Cantona's 'karate kick' on the Corniche.

A new statue of Paul Gascoine having a cry has been erected on the streets of Algiers.

The most famous save in the history, Rene Higuita's scorpion kick will live on forever outside the Borj El Arab in Dubai.

And finally, Abu Dhabi are immortalising Icelandic team Stjarnan F.C and their incredibly elaborate celebrations on their sandy beaches.
