First School for Solar Energy to Be Established in Kafr El-Sheikh

Kafr El-Sheikh’s Executive Board has just announced that it is establishing the first industrial secondary school for solar energy and electrical installations in the governorate.

This endeavor follows through on the national initiative to promote sustainability, such as the Grand Egyptian Museum's (GEM) designation as Egypt's first green museum and the recent sale of USD 200 million in green bonds.

Kafr El-Sheikh in particular is building on its push towards sustainable development, which includes the governorate’s recent Memorandum of Understanding with Lafarge Egypt, one of the largest cement plants in the MENA region dedicated to producing sustainable building materials.

The Memorandum saw a collaboration between the governorate and the business on their individual CSR policies, but it also incorporated objectives for a variety of initiatives, ranging from road network optimization to infrastructure plans that should allow for more seamless integration of the governorate with the rest of the surrounding governorates.
