Concerts in the Time of Corona: Your Guide to International Virtual Gigs

Coming to save you from the pin drop silence that lurks like ghosts of cancelled concerts' past are these international artists and venues that are live streaming all kinds of music content. Here are a few of the ones we're virtually looking forward to:

JOHN LEGEND (@johnlegend on Instagram) // Our one and only sweet serenade and All of Me crooner John Legend is holding a free online concert in an effort to flatten the Coronavirus curve. Thank you, king. Tune in as he chants live on his Instagram at 1 PM Pacific Time (10 PM Cairo time) tonight, March 17th. Try not to get swooned into submission - he’s also taking requests!

THE MET OPERA (@metopera at metopera.org) // The Met Opera is sending Nightly Met Opera streams of previous performances your way at 7:30 PM EST (1:30 AM in Cairo) on its official website. Streaming right now is Bizet’s Carmen and coming up tonight is Puccini’s La Boheme.

ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (@ultra on player.siriusxm.com) // For the techno lovers, the cancellation of Miami’s Ultra Music Festival that was meant to happen this weekend has now given way for an exciting limited-run radio channel, Ultra Virtual Audio Festival, to put us in a trance at home. Artists taking this virtual stage with exclusive DJ sets include Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Major Lazer and Martin Garrix, as well as past live sets from the likes of Kygo, Marshmello and Tedd. Tune in on March 20th on the UMF online player at 11 PM in Cairo.

CORONA CONCERTS (on Facebook) // The Facebook group Corona Concerts was created in support of musicians who rely on gigging for their income, so if you’re scouting for new music, these up-and-coming artists are giving their audiences a live stream for donations.

COLDPLAY (@coldplay on IGTV)  // For those who missed out on Chris Martin’s OG live stream that helped set off this very comfortable and inexpensive trend, it’s never too late to catch up on Coldplay’s Instagram.
