Books Down, Hands On: How the Knowledge Hub Universities are Changing Higher Education in Egypt

Coventry University and El Sewedy Education’s flagship project, The Knowledge Hub (TKH) in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital, has been hosting a rich variety of academic activities this November.

Coventry University was placed in the top 50 universities in the UK by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020. They have also received the highest ranking of five stars by the QS Stars worldwide university evaluation system, and maintained their high performing status and ranking in teaching quality, student experience and graduate prospects. As these accolades show, Coventry University have been stepping up their game this month, and their Egypt-based The Knowledge Hub is doing nothing less.

With all three schools of Engineering, Design & Media, and Computing up and running, students went on field trips, were lectured by guest speakers and field professionals, and have already started to prepare for phase two of the university's long-term plans.

To encourage hands-on experience and exposure beyond the textbook, Engineering students went on a field trip to El Sewedy Transformers, Egypt’s leading factory equipment supplier, to get a closer look behind the scenes of the industry.

Among the guest lecturers visiting TKH this past couple of months were global leaders Valeo Egypt, as part of their Egyptian University Roadshow for Engineering and Computing students, following the school’s recent focus on automotive technology. In addition, internationally-acclaimed interior and furniture designer and Co-Founder of Egyptian Designers Guild (EDG) Hisham El Essawy, along with artist and architect Dr. Essam E. Rifaat, also spoke to the Design and Media students about different art perspectives.

Top professionals from various international schools in Egypt were invited for a full campus and course orientation at The Knowledge Hub Universities' Annual School Counselors Event. School counselors met TKH's President, Student Services team, and Student Union team to learn more about the student experience at the university.
