Ashrima Introduces Nubian Hair Recipes to Cairenes

Named after the Nubian word for ‘beautiful woman’, ‘Ashrima’ is the new beauty brand imploring queens to take care of their crowns - or, to be specific, their gorgeous curly hair.

Importing Nubian oils and secrets directly from her native Aswan, founder Esraa Reda has been cooking up traditional Nubian hair recipes passed down to her by her family, which includes cold-pressed oils such as lavender, castor oil and rucola oil. Reda first reached out to her family for these recipes when she was suffering from bald spots and a receding hairline due to her veil. “Nubian recipes are completely chemical-free, and they are truly healing as opposed to other products that just soften hair,” Reda tells #CairoScene. “I create my products to do more healing than beautifying.”

Ashrima’s lineup currently consists of three variations - one for thick hair, one for long hair, and one for frizzy hair - with more products on the way.
