AUC Hosts a Special Event to Tackle Sexual Harassment

The American University in Cairo (AUC) is organizing a new event meant to tackle on-campus sexual harassment head on called ‘MySafeUni Day’ on April 5th.

Participants will be invited to attend an interactive audience-led conversation titled “Wait, Is That Harassment?” where students can explore the nuances behind sexual harassment. The conversation will be accompanied by live theatre performances from AUC’s Department of Arts called ‘Msh Zanbek’.

Outdoor activities will also be available, from a self-defense workshop to booths for several NGOs, including E7na Foundation, The Community Hub, Safe Kids and Heya Masr.

For a more in-depth discussion on turning university campuses into safe spaces, ‘MySafeUni Day’ will feature a panel of professionals in anti-harassment offices from local and international universities, including Durham University and American University in Beirut.

The event, which is part of AUC’s initiative “AUCSpeakUp,” will run from 11 AM to 4 PM at AUC’s New Cairo campus in the Bassily Auditorium. To sign up, you can visit https://cutt.ly/IcaiKxo.
