9 On-Screen Mums Who Have Won Egypt’s Hearts

From roles definitive to maternal love in Egypt, and late actresses who’ve become Egyptian drama’s resident mother figures, this Mother’s Day we’re celebrating characters who’ve won Egyptians’ hearts with their authentic depictions of motherhood.

The late Karima Mokhtar’s Mama Nouna in ‘Yetraba F Ezzo’ (2007), the late Dalal Abdelaziz’s Lamiaa in Sabea’ Gar (2017), and the late actress Loubna Mahmoud’s hilarious character Umm Saleh in ‘Bank El Haz’ (2017), those characters brought to screens the strife and labour of Egyptian mothers.

We’ve compiled a list of 9 roles that remain a classic in Egyptian cinema and drama.
